Expanding Product Line-up of AIRSTAGE™ Multi Air Conditioning
System

We have developed new series (4 models of 8-HP outdoor unit and 3 types 14 models of indoor unit) of "AIRSTAGE™" multi air conditioning system for buildings for overseas market and will start selling in February.
Expecting the growth of market of multi air conditioning system for buildings, we developed heat
recovery type of 10 horse power "AIRSTAGE™" multi air conditioning system for
buildings and made a full-scale entry into the market centered on Europe and Middle East in
September, 2001 and are now expanding the business to Asia and Oceania. On the occasion of entry
into the European market, we have established " VRF Support Center (London)" with aim to
support our customers and sales promotion activity for expanding and strengthening the
business.
Furthermore, in October 2002, we introduced heat pump type and cooling only type of 10 horse power
as new series of "AIRSTAGE™" to meet the needs of customers, by which we are now
able to offer a comfortable air conditioning system suitable for every environment such as airports,
universities and other public facilities as well as buildings and offices.
This time, we intend to considerably strengthen the product line-up for sales expansion of multi
air conditioning system for buildings by adding new 8 horse power outdoor units and indoor
units.
Addition of new 8 horse power outdoor units makes it possible to offer not only individual
installation of 10 horse power units or 8 horse power units but also the combined installation of 10
horse power and 8 horse power units realizing more flexible selection of the system according to the
required capacity.
In the new outdoor units of 8 horse power, by adopting "3 compressor system" of our own
development which is highly valued in the 10 horse power units and "Power balance control
system" which supplies the capacity requested at the indoor unit side without loss, the
industry's most efficient operation(*1) has been achieved. Furthermore,
the "Selectable operation mode " which enables the selection of "Hi-power mode"
in high temperature environment or "Energy saving mode" when considering economical
operation according to the temperature environment of the outdoor installation site and the
"silent mode function" which enables low noise operation at night are incorporated.
Thus, the products excelling in economical operation matching the installation environment and low
noise operation have been developed.
In the new indoor units, we strengthened the product line-up in pursuit of market needs by
developing 41 attractive models of 11 types to cope with various installation environments.

Main features of "AIRSTAGE™" multi air conditioning system for buildings
- Adopting "3 compressor system" and " Power balance control system " of our own development realizing industry's most efficient operation(*1).

- Incorporating air flow structure realizing low noise operation and "silent mode function".

Adopting "3 compressor system" and "Power balance control system" of our own development realizing industry's most efficient operation(*1).
1) Adopting "3 compressor system"
New combination of 3 compressors with different capacity assures smooth and efficient operation for the required capacity at the indoor unit side. Each compressor is so designed to prevent the breakdown of whole system by recovery operation even at the time of failure of one or two compressors.

2) Adopting " Power balance control system "
The " Power balance control system " is adopted, which detects the information of
capacity (required refrigerant volume) required at the indoor unit and certain pressure of
refrigerant gas inhaled into compressor and controls the operation of compressor with optimum
pressure.
By this system, the compressor operates efficiently without by-passing surplus
refrigerant.
In all R407C models, the most efficient operation in the industry(*2) of COP(*3) 3.1 for cooling and COP3.3
for heating is realized.
Incorporating " Selectable operation mode " which enables the selection of Hi-power mode and Energy saving mode.
In the new outdoor units, operating capacity can be switched according to the environment of the installation site. The range of capacity can be selected by a selection switch in advance according to the installation environment of outdoor unit such as always setting at higher side by user in the high temperature environment or setting at lower side considering economy. By this " Selectable operation mode ", the capacity setting can be varied from " Hi-power mode " to "Energy saving mode" in the range of about 15%, so that wider variety of needs of users can be coped with.

Incorporating air flow structure realizing low noise operation and "silent mode function".
Industry's lowest noise operation(*4)has been achieved through the
improvement of air inhaling balance by "V shaped heat exchanger" and the "Dual
casing bell-mouth" structure of our own development and arranging them in the optimum
position.
Also in consideration for ambient environment and in order to meet the requirement for low noise
operation at night, the operation noise of about 6dB lower than standard operation at 8 horse
power operation has been realized by adopting "silent mode function" with suppressed
fan speed.
Abundant range of indoor models.
1) 5.7 - 8.8kW slim type ceiling cassette air conditioner
In the 5.7 - 8.8kW (20,000 - 30,000BTU) ceiling cassette type air conditioners which have
increasing demand as air conditioning equipment for buildings, the thinnest air conditioner in
the industry (*5)with height of 23.5 cm has been realized to be
installed even in a narrow space in the ceiling where the conventional model could not be
installed.
Furthermore, by "Slender setting " of our own development which enables the main
unit to slide downward, the unit can be installed in the narrow space of up to 20.0 cm in the
ceiling.
2) 5.2 - 8.8kW wall mounted type air conditioner
Compact size and low noise operation (at "Hi" operation: 44dB, our current model:
47dB) have been accomplished by high efficiency designing incorporating a lambda-type heat
exchanger. Also, by the combination of variable power diffuser of our own technology and
up/down and right/left automatic double air direction swing function, the "floor level
heating" with vertical air flow in heating operation and the "horizontal
cooling" with horizontal air flow in cooling operation are realized for comfortable air
conditioning.
Furthermore, considerable improvement of installation work, such as enhancement of connecting
pipe work efficiency, drain hose openings at both right and left, has been realized.
3) 2.15 - 8.8kW ceiling wall type air conditioner
The new form air conditioner of high efficiency adopting top air-intake system has been
developed with re-designing of heat exchanger and air channel structure. The industry's
largest air volume(*6) (1,000m3/h in 7kW class and 750m3/h in 4kW
class) and low noise operation (43dB in 7kW class and 34dB in 4kW class) have been realized.
By smooth air channel which can intake the indoor air from top side efficiently, the
"healthy cooling" with horizontal air flow with little loss of cool air in cooling
operation and the "floor level heating" with vertical air flow enhancing heating
effect at floor level in heating operation have been made possible realizing the optimum air
conditioning, meeting diverse needs of air conditioning.
Also, by lessening the height to 27 cm, about 5 cm less than conventional large wall mounted
type, the space saving installation near the ceiling was made possible.
