Environment:Environmental Topics Vol.2 GENERAL Air Conditioning Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. GHG Emissions Reduction

GENERAL Group believes that "it is important to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in all business areas of our group," and is promoting not only the energy-saving performance of our products, but also efforts to reduce energy consumption in factories and production facilities as well as conversion to renewable energy.

GENERAL Air Conditioning Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is utilizing the vast land area of approximately 200,000 m² in total at its first and second plants to install solar rooftops and solar-powered exterior lights on the premises. In addition, we are promoting the efficiency of energy use by converting to LED lighting in the factory , investigating and repairing air leaks, and converting cooling towers to inverters.

Making the most of sunlight

The first factory is equipped with 952kW solar panels, and the second factory is equipped with 1182kW solar panels, and the two factories are expected to generate a total of 4,103MWh of electricity per year. This will result in an annual reduction of approximately 2,034 tons of CO₂ emissions.

We have switched the outdoor lights on the premises to solar lights, which will reduce our energy consumption by approximately 57MWh per year and reduce our CO₂ emissions by approximately 28.5 tons per year.

More efficient energy use

From April to October 2023, we conducted a leak location survey using an air leak camera and found that more than 10% of the air used was leaking. As a result of repairing the leak locations discovered during the survey, energy consumption will be saved by approximately 278 MWh per year, resulting in a reduction in CO₂ emissions of approximately 139 tons per year.

By using inverter control for the cooling tower fans, it is now possible to continuously adjust the rotation speed according to the temperature setting without stopping the fans. In addition, the fans were changed to lighter and more durable ones. These measures have reduced energy consumption by approximately 216 MWh per year, resulting in a reduction in CO₂ emissions of approximately 121 tons.
