GENERAL to Spin Off Public-Sector Portion of Information and Communication System Business
A New Start as GENERAL GRANCAST

GENERAL Inc. (formerly Fujitsu General) today announced that it is to spin off the public-sector portion of its Information and Communication System Business. Effective October 1, 2026, the public-sector portion of the Information and Communication System Business is to begin operations , GENERAL GRANCAST Inc. (hereafter, "GENERAL GRANCAST").

The public-sector portion of the Information and Communication System Business has contributed to making a safer and more secure society. It has done so by providing local government and firefighting agencies with public-sector ICT infrastructure, such as firefighting communication-command systems and disaster-prevention wireless systems. The purpose of this spin-off is to respond rapidly to changes in the public-sector ICT infrastructure field, such as the advancement of digital transformation in local governments and growing societal demand for disaster prevention and mitigation, enhance expertise, and accelerate business growth. Building on a foundation of long-standing technical expertise and solid customer trust, GENERAL GRANCAST aims to operate under a more agile decision-making process.

Following the spin-off, GENERAL GRANCAST will continue to operate the public-sector systems currently provided by GENERAL Inc. and provide maintenance services for those systems. GENERAL GRANCAST will also ensure the smooth transition of customer contracts and support desk services from GENERAL Inc. In addition, the construction business license for telecommunications engineering of GENERAL Inc. is planned to be transferred to GENERAL GRANCAST. This maintains a structure that can implement everything from design and construction to maintenance. In doing so, GENERAL GRANCAST seeks to guarantee the reliability demanded of a business that underpins societal infrastructure. It also aims to enhance its value-added services by further bolstering its foundation for stable business operations.

The name GENERAL GRANCAST inherits the long-established trust that the GENERAL name carries and includes the name of the firefighting and disaster-prevention system brand, GRANCAST. The name GRANCAST combines "GRAND (great)" and "CAST (role)" to embody the desire to fulfill a significant societal role. GENERAL GRANCAST has set forth "Co-creating a safe and secure future" as its basic policy. Using AI and cloud technology, it plans to enhance firefighting and disaster-prevention systems and create new solutions to support disaster prevention in local governments.

Going forward, both GENERAL Inc. and GENERAL GRANCAST aim to contribute to the creation of safe and secure local communities.
